If you have problems with your network or you've just set it up, LanTopoLog can help you identify and isolate any issues. It serves as an excellent network topography and discovery tool, based on SNMP. It provides you with detailed network maps and diagrams, with all the addresses, ports and IDs you need to make heads and tails of even the most complex networks.

The software is compatible with all popular Windows versions and it can be installed in just a few seconds. The process is simple and there are no special requirements you have to meet. Although it comes with a price tag, some of LanTopoLog's functions can be used without any restrictions for an unlimited period of time.

There are three simple steps you have to go through, on separate tabs, to map out your network. First, you have to scan and discover your network switches. For this, you only need to specify one or more IP addresses or an IP range. Found switches are listed in a list, in the largest part of the user interface, along with a few details. Next, you need to collect SNMP data from teh switches, which doesn't involve anything more than clicking a button on the next tab.

After discovering your network switches and gathering SNMP data, you can proceed to the next tab and discover their topology. This will show up in a large are of the interface, where you can make modifications if you need to. The final tab is where you can find a network browser, which can be useful if you need to access certain resources on your network.

The software can serve other purposes, besides displaying information about switches. For example, it can monitor your network and notify you via email or other means if certain thresholds have been exceeded. What's more, LanTopoLog doesn't write anything in the Registry or other system components, so you can use it as a portable solution.

LanTopoLog can give you a clear picture on how your network is organized and how it is working.

Pros

The software can map out your network and provide you with a good amount of useful information. Its functionality is straightforward and its controls are easy to master. Also, the software is portable.

Cons

There are no obvious issues to point out.
